This is the mandatory kit list for Sea to Summit UK adventures.

Subject to small changes depending on weather conditions.

• Ultra running vest or Multisport backpack

• Trail running shoes

• Hydration bladder or bottle with a capacity of at least 1L. We will increase this to 2L if the forecast is hot and dry.

• Snacks or sports nutrition totalling a minimum of 400kcals on you at all times as emergency supplies.

• Hat or buff

• Gloves

• Collapsible cup for hot drinks

• Waterproof jacket with taped seams

• Survival bag NOT blanket

• Headtorch

• Basic first aid containing at least a roller bandage, paracetamol, assorted adhesive dressings, sterile absorbent materials such as gauze to compress bleeding wounds.

• Whistle

• Fully charged phone

• Method of payment, card, cash, apple pay or similar

• Full leg cover such as leggings (they can be the ones you are running in)

• GPS Tracker (picked up at Registration)

• Event number 

We reserve the right to add additional items if the forecast is looking turbulent, these may include but are not limited to:

• Waterproof leg cover

• Thermal mid layer

Yes, there are cut-offs on this event, they are listed below and set at a 3mph pace: 

PS1 6.7 miles NO CUT OFF

PS2 12.6 miles 11:15**

PS3 20.8 miles 13:45- this is the last Pit Stop before your ascent of Yr Wyddfa

FINISH 29.2 miles

 ** At Pit stop 2, anyone can choose to take the short route to the summit of Yr Wyddfa from here, making the total distance 20.5 miles with 5175ft of ascent and still complete your sea to summit mission. Everyone who misses the cut off at PS2 will take this route to the summit.

It is worth knowing that the course may change if we deem it prudent for your safety or for other operational or weather-based reasons, and we must always reserve the right to do so. Please always follow our arrows and signage over any gpx files you may download.

Rat Race require you to be over 18 on the day of Registration for this adventure.

Our Pit Stops are designed to support you on your ultra adventure. They are places where you can access facilities such as toilets and medical help if needed, you can also interact with the Rat Race staff at these touchpoints. We aim to provide you with some staples to enhance your own adventure nutrition plan, these will include as a minimum:

Water

Hot drinks

Salty snacks

Sweets

Fruit

You should not solely rely on Pit Stops for your nutrition and you should use it to augment your own supplies. We endeavour to cater to a wide range of dietary needs but due to the nature of operation we are unable to guarantee there is no cross contamination. If you have a severe allergy, we recommend bringing your own stash with you.

If you find yourself unable to join us on the start line of this event, you are able to transfer your entry into an event credit voucher once for use on a new entry into an event of your choice. Transfers must be requested within the qualifying transfer window to be accepted and processed. Credit vouchers are valid for 12 months from the date of issue. You can earn our epic gold Sea to Summit Trilogy medal by completing all 3 events in the series. You can do this all in one year or take it over 2 or 3. When you cross the finishline of your final event in the set you will be awarded your Trilogy medal at the finish!

Parking:  You can park at the finish line on event day morning by grabbing a parking pass for £10 per car (via your RR account - must be pre-booked) and then hopping on our shuttle bus from the finish line to the start line. You can book a seat for £10 per person (via your RR account). This will get you to the start line on time and mean when you cross the finish line, you are in close proximity to your car. You need to purchase a car parking pass (one per vehicle) and a shuttle bus ticket (one per person) to utilise this logistic. 

Other options for getting to the start: 

Drop Off: You can get dropped off at Caernarfon Castle by a supporter. The best postcode to use for this is LL55 2NF.  There are many car parks for supporter to use after drop off. The best postcode to use for this is LL55 2PB.
Taxi: We will be running a taxi service back to Caernarfon from the finish line after the event which will be bookable at Registration on a per seat basis.

You can view our current volunteer positions here. You can earn Rat Race Event Credit to use on a future event entry or you can rope your supporters into volunteer while you're on the course! Volunteer credit vouchers can be gifted to others.

Add Refund Protect to your booking during purchase and receive a full refund of your entry fee if you are unable to attend the event due to a qualifying unforeseen circumstance. PLEASE NOTE this protection is with our 3rd party partner Refund Protect and NOT Rat Race. In the event you make a refund application this is administered by the Refund Protect customer service team, Rat Race are not privy to the application and cannot intervene on your behalf to influence the outcome determined by their team.

To add Refund Protect (administered by a 3rd party) to your Rat Race booking simply select this option when presented during the entry process. Refund Protect cannot be added retrospectively. Rat Race will then send you name and booking details to Refund Protect in order to protect your transaction with them. If you opt to pay in instalments and transfer your entry before the entry cost is full paid you will be liable to ensure the cost of Refund Protect has been fully covered. This total amount will be deducted from any Rat Race credit due through the transfer process or you will be invoiced by Rat Race for the outstanding amount as Rat Race have paid this on your behalf to Refund Protect at point of entry.

The highest mountain in Wales is an absolute classic, however in true Rat Race style this is not the way you’d normally go up Snowdon and you will enjoy a lesser-seen side of the mountain on our totally unique Sea to Summit route. Starting from the coast at Caernarfon you will make your way through stunning Snowdonia scenery towards Beddgelert on the much quieter and utterly dramatic southern side of the mountain. From there you will continue your ascent to the summit via the Watkins Path and the South Ridge before descending via the Ranger path. We are no strangers to Snowdon with a decade + of staging events in the area, we think that this course will give you a totally fresh take on this famous and glorious peak.

Trilogy pass terms and conditions

• The Trilogy pass gives you a discounted solo entry into all 3 UK Sea to Summit events in one year.

• You cannot use the Trilogy pass to enter 3 events over multiple years.

• Trilogy passes cannot be shared. The same person must take part in all 3 events.

• Upon completion of your final event in the Trilogy you will be awarded your special edition Trilogy gold medal at the finishline in Scotland.

• Trilogy passes count as 1 entry into 3 events and are not 3 separate event entries. You cannot transfer individual events on the pass.

• Trilogy passes will automatically be reserved a place in the Trilogy only wave/s of each event.

• Once you have taken part in the first event the remaining events cannot be transferred if you can no longer attend them.

• You may transfer the entire pass as per our standard transfer terms and conditions. The deadline to transfer your 2026 Trilogy pass is the 5th August 2026.
