Itinerary

Day One: Thursday

Arrive at Dubrovnik Airport for our 13:00 rendezvous, where your Croatia adventure begins. From here, we’ll transfer to our accommodation in Korčula, giving you time to check in, meet your fellow #RatRacers, and soak up the atmosphere of this stunning Adriatic island.

Note: This day is removed from the 2028 itinerary and we will pick you up on Friday.

Day Two: Friday

After a relaxed breakfast, we’ll complete event registration and participant briefings, covering everything from heat management and event format to route overview and navigation support, including help loading the GPX route onto your GPS watch if needed. We’ll also run through essential kayak and SUP safety guidance ahead of the adventure. After that, the day is yours to relax, explore Korčula, and soak up the Adriatic atmosphere before the challenge begins.

Day Three: Saturday

We’ll make our way to the western side of Korčula Island, where the adventure begins with an epic 50km foot stage traversing the full length of the island. Winding through olive groves, dusty trails, coastal tracks and charming Croatian villages, this spectacular opening stage delivers a true taste of the Adriatic before finishing back at your accommodation for a well-earned beer, hearty meal and some much-needed recovery.

Day Four: Sunday

Day 2 delivers a spectacular multisport adventure, starting with a scenic 3km stand-up paddleboard crossing to Orebić as the Adriatic wakes around you. From there, it’s onto the bikes for an exhilarating 66km ride through Croatia’s sun-drenched hills, coastal roads and dramatic island landscapes. As the legendary skyline of King’s Landing fortifications comes into view, the adventure shifts again, trainers on for an epic assault on the historic Walls of Ston, one of Croatia’s most iconic landmarks, before driving on to a hard-earned finish line in Broce.

Day Five: Monday

Our final day begins before dawn, launching into the stillness of the Adriatic as we paddle out from Broce Canal to greet the sunrise on the water, a truly unforgettable start to the final push. A pit stop on Šipan Island offers the chance to stretch the legs with a scenic trek up and over the island to Suđurađ, before climbing back into the boats for the exhilarating final leg across open water. With the iconic walls of Dubrovnik growing ever closer, the finish line celebrations await in spectacular style.

FAQs

Why is the 2028 date 1 day shorter?

Following feedback from previous participants, we’ve streamlined the 2028 itinerary by removing the separate registration day. In 2028, you’ll arrive at the hotel and head straight into event registration and briefing that afternoon, ready to begin your ultra adventure the very next day.

Is the route likely to change?

The very nature of adventure means that the unexpected can sometimes become part of the journey and that is all part of the experience. While we will always strive to deliver “Plan A”, there may be occasions where operational, safety, weather or environmental factors require us to adapt plans and implement contingency routes or alternative arrangements.

As with all Rat Race adventures, participant safety and overall event delivery remain our highest priorities. We therefore reserve the right to amend routes, itineraries or logistics where necessary, using the experience and judgement of our expedition team to make the best decisions on your behalf in changing conditions. Wherever possible, we will communicate any changes in advance. More often than not, these unexpected moments become part of the adventure itself adding to the stories, memories and unique character of the experience.

Our aim is to help everyone complete the adventure, so if you fall behind the required pace and are unlikely to reach the end before nightfall, our crew will transport you forward by car.
